Languages Remarks

Spanish:

  • For native Spanish speakers it is not necessary to have  any language certificate.
  • For NON NATIVE Spanish speakers: it is MANDATORY to have a Spanish Language Certificate level B1 or similar as minimum and it must be delivered 1 month before the exchange at maximum. This is due to the fact that all activities in the majority of departments are done in Spanish. In fact, the lack of the required level of Spanish will cause a poor Academic Quality of the clerkship for your students.
  • The IFMSA Peru SCOPE & SCORE National Teams recommend an excellent Spanish level, due to its importance for a doctor-patient relationship and a better academic quality during the exchange.

English:

  • For NON NATIVE Spanish speakers: The student must go over an interview, organized by the IFMSA Peru SCOPE National Team in order to verify their spanish
  • The IFMSA Peru SCOPE & SCORE National Teams recommend applying to surgical specialties if the students only speak English or a basic level of Spanish.

Cities Remarks

We have about 25 LC's eagerly waiting to receive students, with good Academic Quality and amazing Social Programs. We receive a big amount of students each month, especially  in July, August, January and February. Due to that, IFMSA Peru is implementing a new city group system:

These are the combinations that will be accepted in your AF: ABC, ACC, BCC, CCC.

GROUP A: Lima, Trujillo, Arequipa.
GROUP B: Piura, Ica
GROUP C: Puno, Cusco, Huánuco, Chimbote, Huancayo, Cajamarca.

AF's that don't match these statements will be sent back or placed based on the departments choices.

The places available in certain cities are very limited, so we can't always place in the desired city.

If the student requires a rotation in English, it must be specified in the "Notes from the student" section to be considered at the time of placement.

For more details on the availability of departments in English by LCs, you can look at this dynamic table.← (Link)

  • Students who choose to start in the 29th or 30th of a month, won't be accepted!
