We request a level B2 for English. If the student cannot provide official documentation (IELTS, CAE, TOEFL) then they must undergo an interview before their exchange. 
If the level of English is not sufficient, the clerkship can be canceled. 
Clerkship Type
- Clinical Clerkship
A clinical clerkship is defined as the rotation of a student in a clinical department of a hospital or clinic, such as Dermatology and Pediatrics.
Required level of studies
When sending the AF, the student MUST still be enrolled in a medical school. The student must've finished AT LEAST their second year of studies before their exchange begins.  We accept graduate students but no later than 6 months after their graduation.

Even if accepted by the hosting country, students must be still enrolled in university by the time the Application Form is sent.

Academic Quality

You need to complete at least 80% of your clerkship to receive a certificate.

Please do not forget to bring your IFMSA Student's Handbook. The handbook will prove that you have attended at least 80% of your clerkship and it will be required in order to get your certificate at the end of your clerkship.

You must choose 3 different cities in your AF! If you don't, then the AF will be returned automatically. 
If you would like to be placed in Constanta, please send the AF before the 1st of April.

August: 01.08.2022 - 30.08.2022.

If you arrive earlier than the dates stated above, please make sure to contact your Contact Person in order for the LC to be informed and prepared to host you.

Except for July, August, and September, we usually accept full calendar months!

For the months of December and February, the spots are very limited, and the students will be accepted only upon previous agreement with the NEO. The months of JUNE and JANUARY are only available after confirming with the NEO.

Social Program
During July, August and September we organize 2 national social programs each month. These include trips to the most important tourist attractions of Romania - Bran Castle, Peles Castle, Sighisoara, Transfagarasan, Balea lake and so on. Besides these, during Summer months, each LC organize their own social programs, which include mountain trips, trips to the seaside, Danube delta, parties, and so on.

Special Remarks
If students want to be placed together they have to write it down in the AF. Couples can be placed in different rooms due to gender distribution. 
For the students with disabilities, the NEO must contact us before in order to confirm the possibility of accepting the students.

The unilateral fee should be paid cash upon arrival unless other agreements have been made between the NEOs.

If you require a visa, please make sure to send us the AF and CoD by the 1st of February
 
If you need to receive any additional documents from us, such as accommodation proof, or anything else, please contact us at least 6 weeks in advance, especially if you need the hard copy sent by post. The cost of shipping the hard copies will have to be paid by the student.

Special Remarks
The students are placed by the LC-city criteria in the limited available spots for each LC. If they want to be placed using the department criteria, they must specify it in their AFs.
You must choose 3 different cities in your AF.

The standard documents are the basic documents that the students are asking for and the special documents are less important, as only some Local Committees ask for them. So it's mandatory to upload the standard documents, but not the special ones. (Students do it when asked for by the LEO/NEO.)
The upon arrival documents are hard copies documents that the students are requested to take with them in the host country.”

In the immunization record, please upload your proof of COVID-19 vaccination. 



Insurance
Health Insurance is required upon arrival, however, the exchange students who apply for visas need to upload in the Card of Documents the Health Insurance that covers the repatriation costs.
As NMO we ask for Liability Insurance/ Malpractice Insurance, but the student must arrange that in THEIR HOMECOUNTRY.

No student will be accepted if his documents have not reached us, or if he does not appear in the database or cannot prove he is a substitution for someone in the database.

Clerkship may be automatically cancelled when the local committee receives claims from the hospital or the students’ hostel.

COVID REGULATIONS: 

1. ALL incoming students must present a NEGATIVE PCR test for SARS-COV2 done a maximum of 48 hours prior to their arrival. 
2. ALL incoming students must undergo a second PCR test in the first 3 days from their arrival 
     *If the student is vaccinated, they can undergo only 1 PCR test, but not older than 72 h before their clerkship begins in the hospital. 
3. All incoming students must undergo a rapid test after the first 14 days of their exchange
4. All incoming students are requested to have malpractice insurance, which will be sent to the hosting LEO after their acceptance, no later than 4 weeks before their exchange begins. 
5. COVID Vaccination is mandatory. If the student is not vaccinated then the NEO must contact us before sending their documents. 
 
If not complying with these conditions, the student will have their exchange canceled. We, as NMO or our LCs, are not responsible for the payment of the PCR tests, rapid test, or insurance. In case the student comes from a country that undergoes quarantine upon arrival in Romania, the hosting LC is not responsible for the organization of the quarantine or the payment.
