Special Remarks
AF must be sent AT LEAST 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE START OF THE CLERKSHIP BOTH FOR BILATERAL INCOMINGS AND FOR THE UNILATERAL ONES! (otherwise, the student cannot be accepted!)

There are different restrictions depending on the countries visited in the 14 days preceding the arrival in Italy, some EU countries don’t have any COVID-19 travelling restrictions, others require a negative test, many require a test AND a mandatory quarantine, without exceptions, for some countries all travellers have been denied entry. The list of the countries and the restrictions changes rapidly please consult this website to see the most updated information: https://www.esteri.it/mae/en/

We can’t assure accommodation for quarantine purposes before the exchange beginning date (1st of the month), in case this requirement forces the student to attend less than the required hours we can’t be sure we can provide an exchange certificate.

In case the students get infected during the exchange, they have to follow Italian regulations, requiring a mandatory quarantine and a negative PCR test at the end (LEOs and LOREs will be available to help understand health requirements).

In these cases requirements regarding exchange certificates will be discussed specifically with tutors and LEOs/LOREs.

Yes
NMO must be notified 16 weeks before exchange start if additional documents are needed
Special remarks
If you need a Visa, please contact our Embassy.

In case a visa is required to enter Italy, PLEASE APPLY FOR TOURIST VISA!! NO STUDY AND NO WORKING VISA!!

For further information about visa regulations please contact the Italian embassy. You may find more information on their website: http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home.aspx

For most students, a tourist visa shall be sufficient, but we can’t guarantee it. In case of uncertainty, please refer to the Italian embassy directly to inquire which kind of visa is needed.

In order to help students in obtaining a Visa, we will issue an official Invitation Letter, however, this is the ONLY document we are able to provide to the embassies as SISM, if this is not enough there is nothing else we can do.

Units lost due to Visa issues will not be postponed to the following year.

-----------------------------------------------

INVITATION LETTERS:

ANY REQUEST FOR INVITATION LETTER MUST BE SENT BY EMAIL THROUGH YOUR NORE TO THE NORE of SISM-Italy! IT IS MANDATORY, DON’T ASK YOUR LEO OR CP FOR ANY KIND OF OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS.
Remember to send the request in advance and to be patient as we need some time for preparing an Invitation Letter. It’s mandatory, in order to have the Invitation letter, to write the exact data in the AF (full name, the correct number of passport and its expiry date).

Check the visa section of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website to know if you need an Invitation Letter for Italy. Please, don't ask for an Invitation Letter if you don't really need it!
Insurance
Insurance
- Health Insurance
- Liability Insurance

Special remarks
Health insurance
is COMPULSORY in all the Local Committees and must be uploaded in the Card of Documents immediately after receiving the CA and then shown to the LORE upon arrival. This insurance can also be arranged in Italy upon arrival, but we definitely prefer to receive the policy in advance. If you are a student from a country of the European Union (EU), or from a country of the European Economic Area (EEA) or from Switzerland, then you don't need to draw up a health insurance policy as you should own a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). In this case, you have to upload the EHIC on the Card of Documents and bring it with you during the exchange.

Liability insurance
is COMPULSORY in all the Local Committees and must be uploaded in the Card of Documents immediately after receiving the CA and then shown to the LORE upon arrival. This insurance can also be arranged in Italy upon arrival, but we definitely prefer to receive the policy in advance. In some cases and in some LCs the student can be insured directly from the hospital where the internship will take place, therefore we suggest you discuss the topic with your hosting LORE right after receiving the CA.
